Runs and drives. This car was my daily driver for about two years. Very reliable and dependable. I wanted to keep this car but I need $$$. I hate to see it go. As it is, it's a nice-looking car I haven't driven it since the above photo was taken this summer. I refer to it as a 20-footer because it looks great from 20 feet. Closer inspection reveals that it needs some minor TLC to make it a real show stopper. The strong points are the nice body, lack of rust, decent paint and slightly lowered front end that gives it a really nice-looking stance. The motor is strong and has a Bosch 009 distributor, SS header & quiet pack exhaust. I don't know what the engine displacement is, but it handles freeway speeds easily (and sounds good on the freeway too). It's peppy.
The weak points are some minor front end damage from an accident, and general aging of trim (carpet, headliner, seat covers). It could use some dent removal from the hood and fender. The wiper motor is currently in need of replacement, and the rear-view mirror is absent, however, the switch and electrics are in good working order (as are the lights and turn signals, brake lights, etc.). The car drives, shifts, steers and brakes well. It's certainly no Corvette, however it's just as fun to drive (if not more). Title is clear.
The car body and trim are relatively original and stock which would make for an easy stock resto or mild custom resto; uncut dash with nice-looking original AM radio (not working). Original white basketweave seats. Interior works as a daily driver but needs TLC to become a really nice car. See photos. I was really hoping to make it into a super-mild custom restoration, but alas, time and money are lacking. I wish I had storage space and didn't need the money!
I put the non-slotted wheels on the car. They are incorrect for a 1965. However, I prefer the look to the slotted wheels. I have non-painted slotted wheels if you prefer them.
As I mentioned, it's a nice 20-footer that needs some finishing to be a knockout. It breaks my heart to put it up for sale :(
Please check out the photos and if you're interested in more information, please email koeglers@attglobal.net and put "VW" in the subject line. I'm happy to talk on the phone, too (email for phone number). I'm sometimes available with Yahoo Instant Messaging under the user name "frheko".
Note a few pictures were taken prior to the front-end damage and with a front over rider bumper which is now a euro blade (no overrider), however I have included a close-up image of the front in it's current condition.
